Freight House District completed: 19xx The Freight House in Kansas City's Historic Crossroads District has been transformed from a dilapidated one-story warehouse to three well-established restaurants. The initial phase of the development includes providing a vehicular access throughout the Freight House Building and a stand-alone pump house with the architectural and structural elements detailed to be reminiscent of the signal bridges and switch towers associated with local railroad construction. Additional features include street scape improvements, entries for the restraunts, infrastructure improvements to the building including a basement and a second floor to accommodate the needs of the restaurants along with neighborhood improvements featuring new lighting, sidewalks, heavily landscaped public areas which incorporate artwork and site furnishings. The previously blighted area has been rejuvenated to a jewel of the ever-growing downtown due in large part to the success of the Freight House Development. |
