UMKC Law School completed: 19xx UMKC Law School descrtibes their motto: "At the center of the City and in the forefront of legal education." So when the University approached Shaw Hofstra + Associates to design their new "Truman Terrace and Fountain," a daunting task lay ahead. For over three years (1996-99) Shaw Hofstra worked closely with the Dean and students of UMKC Law School to design an outdoor area that would both serve programmatic needs and reflect the image of a growing school. The Terrace's primary function is to serve as a relaxing place for students to escape the chaotic schedule of law school. The patio features a bust of President Harry Truman, an honarary alumni of the school, a monogrammed brick court to recognize past alumni, and seating to accommodate large groups of students and faculty. |
